The 39th Annual Opportunity Village Benefit Walk will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 4, 2008. The Walk is always the first Sunday in May.
Walkers can choose a 10-mile route, a 3-mile route, or the Village fitness trail. (Some walkers even walk around their own home town or a vacation spot, if they can't make it to Clear Lake on the day of the event!) Shuttles are available if you want to park at the Village and get a ride to the start of your route. 10-mile route Shuttles leave from Village between 1:35 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. Walkers start at 2 p.m. from the Newman School parking lot, B-35 and Taft, in Mason City. The route follows the fitness trail along B-35 and ends up back at the Village. 3-mile route Shuttles leave from Village between 2:40 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. Walkers start at 3:30 p.m. from the Team Quest parking lot, I-35 and B-35, in Clear Lake. The route heads to Main Avenue and along the sea wall, merging with the 10-mile walkers and ending up back at the Village. Trail route The Village fitness trail is a paved, accessible path running through the main campus. Many of the people we serve participate in the Benefit Walk on this trail. You're welcome to join the trail walkers who will meet on the plaza in front of the Village's Kinney-Lindstrom Center at 3:30 p.m. All routes end up at the Village for a picnic lunch, entertainment, and prizes. We wait until all walkers have arrived, so announcements and prizes generally start by 5 p.m. Shuttles will be available to take people back to their cars if they parked at the start of the routes.
