Homeless Crisis Prevention & Intervention

Northwoods Living, a service of Opportunity Village in Fort Dodge, has been identified as the agency member of the North Central Iowa Coalition on Homelessness that assists persons with disabilities who are facing a homeless crisis.  Direct assistance for rent, deposit, food, or utilities is made possible through grants that NWL applies for each year, to prevent or resolve a homelessness crisis.

Services might include emergency financial assistance for rent or utilities; assistance in locating and securing affordable housing; assistance with completing paperwork for HUD, food stamps, or Social Security; help with finding treatment options for health issues; mediation with landlords; skill assessment and training; and transportation to essential appointments.
