Village Family & Friends meet April 24

Posted March 24, 2010
Please join us for our spring meeting of the Family & Friends Association on Saturday, April 24, 2010.  The day will start at 8:30 a.m. with open discussion time with Village CEO John Severtson and other leadership staff.  This time provides you an opportunity to voice concerns and share your praises.  The informal time gives you a chance to get to know other family members of Village clients as well.

At 10 a.m. the annual business meeting will start with election of officers for the coming year.  Those willing to serve the Family & Friends Association include: Donna Banta, president; Lew & Barb Thomas, president-elect; Larry & Jan Gustafson, treasurer; Bill & Nadine Schmidt, secretary; Tom & Lynn Dwan, past-president.

After the business meeting we’ll share the results of a recent CARF survey.  CARF is an outside accreditation organization that comes to the Village every three years to evaluate our practices.

An update on our progress toward goals of the Village’s Strategic Plan will be reviewed and information shared about some cost-containment strategies we are looking to employ.

We will bring you up to date on the transition that is taking place with the merger between Northwoods Living and Opportunity Village.

A brief overview of the Iowa Guardianship Inc. program will be shared, providing insight into the services available from this organization which is sponsored by the Family & Friends Association.

After the meeting, you are invited to join us for lunch.  For those who have a loved one living in a cottage on the main campus, you can join them in the cottage for lunch.  Others are invited to have lunch in the atrium.

A spring concert will be presented by our Music Therapy groups starting at 1:30 p.m. in the gymnasium.  “Remember My Song” will feature the Swing Choir and Celebration Ringers.

You are encouraged to invite relatives and friends join you for any of these activities.
