Store Donations

Posted October 6, 2008
The Village General Stores in Clear Lake and Fort Dodge accept donations of items in good condition, to be sold to the public.  All proceeds from the Stores go to support services to people with disabilities, so your donations are directly improving the lives of others.  You also make the buyer happy when they find a great treasure at a bargain price!

Here are just a few of the items accepted at the Store:
  • Gently used clothing
  • Shoes
  • Kitchenware
  • Holiday decorations
  • Home decor
  • Furniture in good repair
  • Books
  • Toys
  • Costumes
  • Much more!

Items we cannot accept:
  • Furniture in need of repair
  • Ruined furniture or mattresses
  • Large appliances
  • Microwaves
  • TVs
  • Console stereos
  • Non-working electrical items or appliances
  • VCR and DVD players
  • Computers (monitors, printers, CPUs, keyboards, scanners, fax)
  • Paint
  • Encyclopedias
  • Baby furnishings (cribs, strollers, playpens, car seats)
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Tires

For the safety of our employees and volunteers, we reserve the right to refuse the donation of large and or heavy items.

We reserve the right to refuse any items that we believe will not sell.  Be sure to ask for your non-cash gift receipt at the time of delivery.

In Clear Lake, items may be dropped off during store hours Monday through Saturday (not Sunday) at the rear of the store, off Maple Lane.  In Fort Dodge, donations may be dropped off during store hours Tuesday through Sunday (closed Monday) on the south side of the store.  Please do not leave items after hours, as they may be stolen or damaged.
