Peterson has worked at the Village almost four years, but comes from a long line of Petersons employed by Opportunity Village. He currently is shift leader at Executive Cottage. Jason was described as “quiet, fair, honest, reasonable, and hard to rattle” by his nominators. “He is someone not always noticed as he is not loud, overbearing, or overwhelming, but he is consistent and caring. Jason strives to work hard, be reliable, and someone others think of as a role model.”
Neumann, a shift leader at Moon Valley Cottage, has worked at the Village since May 2001. She is very active with the Opportunity Village Benefit Walk and served on the Quality Council. Neumann has been described as “a bundle of energy, always giving of her time to provide what staff and clients need.” She looks for ways to improve herself and her knowledge base. Neumann frequently shows co-workers her appreciation and gives them encouragement.
Opportunity Village awards seven Thornblade Awards during the year to staff members who exemplify the caring and dedication demonstrated by the late Tom Thornblade, a longtime employee. Other Thornblade winners from 2009 are Dixie Lundquist, Ginny Emmick, Heather Waugh, Lori Clemons, and Bonnie Bradbury. The award is made possible with a gift from Mr. & Mrs. Martin Koldyke.
